Fab Blantyre Fun Day

What a brilliant afternoon was had today by many families who came along to the Coalfields Regeneration Trust’s Blantyre Family Fun Day!

Over 700 people attended the fun day out at the Sports Centre, today Sunday 10 February 2019, the day being hailed marvellous success! Coalfields have an incredible £20,000 funding for Blantyre and several organisations showcased their applications, asking for the public to vote for their favourites! AND vote they did, in their hundreds! There was a huge amount of feedback left for the steering group, as to how Blantyre could be improved. It was wonderful to see such a huge turnout!

As this happened, children enjoyed free bouncy castles, facepainting, dancing, soft play and crafts. FREE food and drink was handed out to everybody attending. The Selfie Mirror was a popular feature too, with queues forming!

A massive thank you to everybody who made efforts to come along today.

Many thanks go out to the following organisations and individuals for all their assistance and organisation. In no particular order, thanks to the staff at Blantyre Sports Centre, Bespoke Event Services for the selfie mirror, Mick McCann for providing SO much food, Mick Flynn at the Hoolets for kids drinks, to Amy the facepainter, to George and all at Hyper Cyber, to Jo and everybody there from Terminal One, to David Livingstone Centre Trust, the Stars Dancers for their excellent entertainment, Blantyre Community Committee, Blantyre Project, everybody who has been involved throughout the process on Blantyre Steering Group and of course the volunteers and hard working staff at Coalfields Regeneration Trust.

It was a brilliant afternoon enjoyed by all and accomplished the goals set out! Feedback on all the very worthy applications and community viewpoints provided today will soon be assessed and we’ll be letting you know the outcome right here in due course!
